For those of us hosting a Chanukah party (or several), it helps to have a clear, organized place for all those lists. Here is an example of how you can set up a clean and minimal party planning page in a bullet journal.

Of course, you may need a different layout, so feel free to use this for inspiration as you make your own planner page. Here are some things to keep in mind for your to-do list.
During The Month Before
- Create a Guest List: Make a list of family and friends you’d like to include. See what days they are open to join a party and based on that…
- Set a Date and Time: Decide on the date and time for the party.
- Determine a Budget and Shopping list: Set a budget for your food, decorations, and table settings. Also think about if you want to purchase any activities or games. While you work on your budget, take the time to write out your shopping list.
- Send Invitations: Send out invitations with all the essential details, including the date, time, location, RSVP information, and any special instructions (such as bringing something for a game).
- Plan the Menu: Prepare a menu. Ensure you consider any dietary restrictions your guests may have.
- Assign jobs: If your guests are helping out, delegate different jobs, like cooking the food and running the game. Make sure to mark down who is doing what.
During The Week Before
- Shopping: At least a week before the party, place the orders for any items that need to be ordered in advance, such as donuts. Buy whatever else is left on your shopping list.
- Prepare Music: Create a playlist of fun music. (Benny Friedman’s Chanukah medley comes in handy.)
- Plan Activities and Games: Organize some Chanukah-themed games and activities for both children and adults. Can’t think of anything? Stick to playing dreidel.
- Food prep: Whatever you can cook or bake ahead of time.
The Day of
- Decorations: decorate the space and set the table
- Last Minute Food Prep: Prepare food in advance and stash it in the fridge.
- Set the Mood: Start the music before anyone walks in.
- Prepare for Clean-Up: Have trash bags and recycling bins readily available to keep the party area tidy during and after the celebration. Have tins and containers ready for putting away leftovers.
