If you use your bullet journal to keep track of many different types of tasks, it’s important to have a system of keeping it all organized. You don’t want to spend all day searching through each page to find what you’re looking for. You want to be able to flip quickly to the page you need right then, whether it’s work meeting notes, your monthly schedule, or your “favorite recipes” page.
The bullet journal system comes with a solution: the Index. But sometimes, the index is not enough. So here are some other ways to help you maintain an organized bullet journal:
Sticky Tabs
I love sticky tabs. You can find them in Staples, Target, or Walmart. If you look online, they can find a wider variety of shapes and colors. These come in handy if you want to create several sections, or if you want to call attention to an important page.

Washi Tape
Washi tape comes in handy in all kinds of stationery-related scenarios. This tape can be moved around easily, and it comes in all sorts of pretty colors and designs. If you wrap a small piece around the edge of a page, you have created a small indicator to find that page more easily in the future. It’s a similar idea to the sticky tabs, but the washi tape doesn’t stick out from your notebook.
Different colors can be used for different types of pages. In the image below, you’ll see I have placed several pieces of washi tape on my bullet journal. When the notebook is closed, the effect is subtle and neat.

Markers
This method is simple and doesn’t require sticking down any extra supplies into your notebook. With several different color markers, color the edge of the pages to create an easy visual divide between sections. This can be used to separate different months of the year, or different topics.
