Mistakes will happen. I will say it again. Mistakes will happen. It’s simply inevitable. (If you really want to avoid mistakes and you have some extra time, I would suggest planning out your page with a pencil.)
I’ve made plenty of mistakes while bullet journaling. Sometimes I’ve written the wrong date or the wrong day. (I don’t think I’ve ever written the wrong month, but there’s still time for that.) I’ve misspelled things countless times. Sometimes I just leave the mistake, but sometimes I want to find a way to correct it or cover it over. Here are a few ways to do that:
Correction tape/fluid
Remember these from your school days? I like correction tape over correction fluid because I find it neater and easier to apply.
White gel pen
A white gel pen can have the same effect as correction fluid, but it’s even easier to use. Since it’s a pen, it has a finer point so you can have better control and just cover a small area.
Washi tape & stickers
Sometimes, pretty stationery can save the day. Use washi tape or stickers to cover the mistake.
In case you were wondering, washi tape is thin, decorative tape that can easily be lifted up and moved around after it was applied. They come in colors, patterns, mettalic, and all sorts of designs. You can find them in stores like Michaels, Staples, Hobby Lobby, etc. They are also available online on websites like Amazon.

Black marker
Using a black marker, draw a square or rectangle over the mistake and make it part of the decor.
(Pro tip: if you have a white gel pen, you can write over the black area. Just wait for it to dry first.)
Cover it over with another paper
If you have a big area that needs fixing, use another piece of paper to cover the area. You can use:
- scrapbook paper
- plain white paper
- a piece of dotted paper from the back of your bullet journal
Remove the page
If it’s a very, very large mistake and you don’t feel that the page is salvageable, you can simply cut out the page with a pair of scissors or an Exacto knife.
