If you’re going on vacation this winter (or anytime ever), here is a straightforward method to planning your trip and getting all those details together.
Itinerary
First, let’s write down the itinerary. Where are you going? What time do you need to be there? You may also want to write down the address for each location.
Packing List
Next, let’s plan the packing list. I like to do a mental walk-through of the trip. This is where you visualize each segment of the trip to help you think of all the things that you will need along the way.
I like to do a mental walk-through of the trip. This is where you visualize each segment of the trip to help you think of all the things that you will need along the way.
First is the car ride. What will we need for that? We’ll be in the car for a while, so we’ll need snacks and drinks. Put that on the list. We’ll also want something to do. Put down whatever you use to entertain your family on a long car ride, such as music, story tapes, and a game.
Next we’ll arrive at our rental, where we’ll eat supper. Put down all the food-related items: Betty Crocker pizza maker, plates, plastic cutlery, cups, napkins, food and drink, a cooler, etc.
Then we’ll be going to sleep. Put down all the sleep-related items: toothbrushes, toothpaste, pajamas, etc.
Continue to do this for each step of the trip until your packing list is complete. (Don’t forget the just-in-case items, like Band-Aids and extra tissues.)
Budget
You may also want to keep track of your budget. List the price of each item and check your total to make sure you aren’t spending more than you want to. With everything on one list, you can more easily see if there’s an item that can be crossed off to cut down on expenses.
I hope this helps you plan ahead with more ease so you can set off on your vacation with a clear mind!
